The parish stretches from the old riverside village on the Medway out to Eccles, Blue Bell Hill and part of Walderslade, with more than 10,000 residents. It has a long industrial history: until 2015 it was home to Aylesford Newsprint, once the largest paper recycling plant in Europe.

Being so close means we can attend at short notice and come back easily for follow-up visits, which helps when remedial works are carried out in stages. Many of our longest-standing clients are within a few miles of the office.

Today we assess everything from industrial and warehouse units along the river to pubs and shops in the historic village and residential blocks across the parish.

Who needs a fire risk assessment in Aylesford

Industrial and warehouse units
The riverside's long industrial history means large sheds, storage yards and mixed-use units. Units change hands and uses often, so assessments go out of date quickly.
Historic village premises
Many of the old village's buildings were once shops; older construction often needs extra attention to compartmentation. Timber floors and later alterations can create hidden routes for fire spread.
Pubs and hospitality
Village pubs combine public areas, kitchens and sometimes letting rooms upstairs. Changes of tenant or menu can change the kitchen risk significantly.
Flats and residential blocks
Newer housing across Blue Bell Hill and Walderslade includes blocks with shared escape routes. Shared stairs and bin stores are where most issues are found.

Aylesford fire safety questions

Where are you based in relation to Aylesford?

Our office is in Larkfield, next to Aylesford, so most visits in the parish are only a few minutes away.

Do you assess older buildings in Aylesford village?

Yes. We recommend practical precautions that suit older buildings without unnecessary changes to their character.

Can you assess a pub with rooms upstairs?

Yes. Letting rooms add sleeping risk, so we look closely at detection, escape routes and separation from the bar and kitchen.

Can you return to check remedial works after the assessment?

Yes. Because we're next door in Larkfield, follow-up visits to confirm works have been completed are quick to arrange.

How often should a fire risk assessment in Aylesford be reviewed?

The law says it must be reviewed regularly and whenever something significant changes, such as a refit, a change of use or a new tenant. For most premises we recommend a review at least once a year.

Gary who attended was great. He was very professional and advised on some bits we needed to adapt. He helped with questions I had with regards to regulations and explained in detail everything required.
